Driver's License

New residents should obtain a driver's license within 60 days of establishing residency. A valid out-of-state license is required, as well as a Social Security car. Applicants must also complete a vision exam. The fee is $20, renewable every four years

Inspection Sticker
Motor vehicle inspections are performed by various state-approved private businesses at a fee of $5. The tax collector's office can provide a list of local participating stations. For further questions call the state Motor Vehicle Inspection Office at (601) 987-1251.

Insurance
Drivers must maintain liability insurance for their vehicle, and they must carry proof of insurance in their vehicle at all times

A request for service application must be completed at City Hall. Proof of identification is required in the form of a valid driver's license and Social Security card. Applicants in rental housing must also present a renter's receipt. The deposit is $125 for electric hook-up and $25 for water.

Days for curbside collection vary as per location. Within the city limits, leaves and other yard debris are also collected at the curb. It is illegal to burn trash within the city limits.

Voter Registration
To vote for elected officials in Mississippi, residents must be at least 18 years of age by the November election and register 28 days prior to it. Registration is complete at the Circuit Clerk's office at the Courthouse. For more information, call 473-1341.
